Far too many roofers employ workers who are improperly trained, or just too darn busy to take the time to properly install a roof. This is particularly true when it comes to the installation of shingles. Most roof problems occur due to improper nailing techniques when it comes to fastening shingles to your roof.

The problems include:

	Under-driven fasteners – wind can lift up shingles that are not securely fastened, causing blow-off
	Over-driven fasteners -- wind can lift up shingles that are not securely fastened, causing blow-off
	Improperly seated (crooked) fasteners – if wind blows up under the crooked fastener, the fastener can actually cut right through the shingles, making them more prone to blow-off
